This issue tells the story of Ambrose's two pet snakes, and Salem's. We find out how the three ended up as familiars, and what they expect of the future.
It is a cautionary tale, as all of them made awful mistakes, and had serious issues. But I'll let you find out all about that yourselves.

Alternative Salem Witch story

The familiars tell their stories. Salem the cat tells about his past and the curse from the Salem Witches that made him a cat. Interesting and non-gory volume for once.

I usually don't read single issues but since my local library jumped on the bandwagon with Hoopla, I've taken advantage of not having to wait until some of my favorite series publish volume collections. Issue #6, That Damned Cat, tells the story of how Salem became to be a familiar. In addition, we also get the side story of Sabrina's cousin's familiars, two King Cobras, which being afraid of snakes as I am, I was not a real fan of. However, even I have to admit it was an interesting tale. The a ...more

a demon supposedly attending and obeying a witch, often said to assume the form of an animal.

This is the Spellman familiar's origin story. We get to see how Salem(cat) and the snake's(cobra) become what they are today. This had some old witch folk tale reference and of course goat guys. We cant get enough of those goat guys.

While this issue focused less on Sabrina and more on the familiars, this was by far the most compelling of this spectacular series to date.

I loved getting these characters backstories! I’ve always wondered Salem’s and the snakes had a good one too! I liked how it brought historical like elements into it too!

Salem tells his story

In this issue we get a chance to find out how Salem ended up in his cat form. Turns out he was a typical guy and made an enemy of the wrong woman who found a novel way to punish. We also got another story of transformation that was interesting.

This was a nice way to segue into the next stage of the story that is sure to bring even more trouble for our young witch.

I had to read this one right after the other one to see what happened next and you know what I find!!!! Nothing no answers this one instead goes into detail about who Salem really is and how he got turned into a cat and about Ambrose's snakes and how they got turned into what they are. Which I get it is very interesting. But couldn't we see a little bit just a tad, no it basically ends where the other one did though Salem walks up on Sabrina having the conversation with "Harvey". This really sho ...more

Pretty stoked these are on prime reading. Love the art and the writing. This references quite a few folk tales.

Buddy read with 2.0 extraordinaire.
No forward movement in the story line in this issue.
This one is all about one of my favorite characters: Salem.
I liked the back story but readers want to know (view spoiler)
Witch: Abigail Williams
Not a witch: John Proctor
Possibly a witch: Kipling

This combined both Salem witches with Rikki Tikki Tavi. How could I not love it?

Salem sin duda es mi personaje favorito, conocer su origen, porque fue convertido en gato y la misión que tiene ha sido muy interesante y le dio un poco de “calma” a lo que se viene el próximo volumen.

What an interesting and dark take on Salem's origin story! Damn, this series keeps getting better!

Huge Salem fan even though he was an absolute git as a man.

This issue let’s us in on Salem’s backstory and how he came to be the Salem we know and love. It features real life historical figures from the Salem Witch Trials like John Proctor and Abigail Williams.

I don’t know if I believe that what Abigail tells Salem is true though. Either way I do believe Abigail and the man Salem was deserve each other. Both do and say terrible things.

The story of Ambrose’s snakes was also very interesting, a

Wow. I really enjoyed this Salem issue!

I wasn't expecting an origin story, but was totally into it. Actually, what made it even better was that Ambrose's cobra familiars also shared their tale of woe. This was the coolest way of revealing who these familiars were before becoming animal helpers to witches.

Also, how cool was it that The Crucible featured in Salem's life? And how he got his name was super cool, too.

Yep. This was an excellent addition to a comic book narrative I'm already totally i

I quite liked this origin story for Salem and the snake familiars. It's an interesting twist that they were once human but behaved badly and were cursed into their animal forms. It made me like Salem a little less as Samuel was a dick. I guess he is being suitably punished though! I'm not a huge fan of the art style of this comic but it's growing on me.

This was my least favourite so far. After the resurection at the end of the last issue I really wanted to know what happened! I didn't want a whole issue about the snakes and the cat! Especially when it turned out they were kinda horrible. I think my only real criticism of this series is despite having her name in the title Sabrina is hardly the main character at all!

This volume was excellent! I wish that it had been longer. I love it when side characters get a volume to deepen their characterisation and explain more about their lives. The familiars play such a big part in witch culture and it always seems a shame just to have them as background characters. I also loved all the little nods to other stories

Loved reading the back stories. Very interesting.
Though this does make it apparent that Sabrina's card was marked long before she was born.
So many twists and turns.

This volume was an aside from the main story line but was maybe the best one I've read so far. It reveals the background story for Sabrina's cat familiar, Salem, as well as for the two cobra familiars of Sabrina's cousin. A variety of history and lore is woven into each tale and I enjoyed both.

Every witch needs a familiar and this issue goes into Salem’s history of who he was before he was a cat and what made him into a cat. I really enjoyed learning his back story along with the two snakes who are familiars for Sabrina’s cousin.
